SFRM’s Regional Gathering is in San Rafael this year, with activities, workshops, and games. For the first time, we’re including special events for gifted youth…with prizes!

SFRM RG 2024 PROGRAM More Info  | Register Registration Hours Registration will open at 3pm on Friday and close at 9pm for the evening. It will reopen at 7:20am Saturday morning (in time for coffee in Hospitality and the Early Bird Walk) and close at 11:50am. Everyone registered needs to pick up their name tags by 11:50am in order to get lunch. There will be signage to help people who arrive later in the day to find the registrar to claim their name tags.   The Program The program is for the most part in place but talks and times may still be subject to change. FRIDAY 22, 2024 10:30-12:00pm | Early Birds | Guided Tour Of Frank Lloyd Wright's Marin Civic Center Consider taking the guided tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Marin Civic Center, very close to the RG hotel, on Friday from 1030 to 12.  The cost is $12, $7 seniors and students and tickets are available at marincounty.org/depts/cu/tours. 3:00pm | Registration Desk Opens | San Rafael Foyer   3:00pm | Hospitality Opens | Suite 101   3:00pm | Games Room Opens | Sausalito The Game Room is open until Midnight. After Midnight, you can play games in hospitality. Games available include Scrabble, chess, backgammon, Encore, Clue, Yahtzee, Boggle, Blokus, Mensa Connections, Poker, ìSetî, Palabra, Uno, Dominoes, Cribbage, bridge, Parcheesi, and many others. Dr. Seth Shostak Senior Astronomer, SETI Institute Sunday Keynote Dr. Shostak  has   a degree in radio astronomy and obtained his Ph.D.  in astrophysics at the California Institute of Technology  Currently he is  Senior Astronomer at  SETI Institute. Seth is he host of the SETI Institute’s weekly science radio show, “Big Picture Science.” He is enthusiastic in outreach activities: interesting the public – and especially young people – in science in general, and astrobiology in particular. His numerous publications include: More than 60 research papers in refereed, professional journals Approximately three hundred popular articles published in magazines, newspapers, and the Web, on a wide range of topics. He was editor of two scientific book and contributor to five popular astronomy books. Several commissioned scripts for public relations videos produced for commercial clients and wo scripts for planetarium shows. He’s co-authored a college textbook on astrobiology, Authored three trade books on SETI.
