Every year, SFRM hosts a Regional Gathering (RG) in a different location around our area where members and their friends get together for a weekend of activities, speakers, workshops, games, and lots of opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. This year, our RG is in San Rafael in Marin County on November 22-24 and it’ll be the first time we’ll have something for gifted youth!
All gifted youth activities will take place on Saturday, November 23rd so if you can’t stay the entire weekend, just stop by for one day.
One of the RG highlights is the Gifted Youth Homeroom that’s a space dedicated for kids to hang out. Only youth and their grown-ups are allowed in this room and we’ll have members of our Gifted Youth Program there at all times to make sure you’re having a blast! The homeroom is open to all youth attendees – the more the merrier!
Here are some of the homeroom activities we have planned:
- Craft Corner to bring out your inner Picasso
- Bling your badge
- Draw optical illusions
- Origami art and other crafts
- Games to stretch your brain and team up with other kids. Are you in it to win it?? – We’ll have prizes!!!
- LEGO Olympics to demonstrate your Master Builder skills
- RG Brain Games featuring 4 rounds of brain teasers like riddles, puzzles, pictionary, and charades
- CSI Mystery (Without) Murder where you’re a CSI detective and need to solve clues, ciphers and other clues to solve a mystery.
- We’ll team up for Gonzo Trivia and try to beat the grown-ups!
- Plenty of space for you to bring your own activities.
- Bring a chess set to play with other young grand masters
- Bring your Pokemon or Magic the Gathering cards and battle it out
- Want to teach others how to play a game or do a craft? Show us how!
There’ll also be some speakers and activities that grown-ups will find interesting too. Here’s the link to the RG 2024 homepage. Hope to see you there!
