Let San Francisco Mensa foot the bill for your next party! Announcing a competition to see who can get the most Gen X, Millennial, and/or Gen Z Mensans at a summer gathering. The winning host will win $200 … CASH!
Here are the rules:
- The competition will run from June 1 through August 31, 2019.
- The event can be hosted by any Mensan of any age but the contest is being held to encourage younger Mensans’ participation, hence the generation restrictions.
- The event must be a calendered event, it must be submitted following the calendar guidelines to the Calendar Editor (calendar@sfmensa.org) of the Intelligencer.
- Submit your event by the following deadlines:
+ June event: Submit by May 7th
+ July event: Submit by June 4th
+ August event: Submit by July 9th
- Submit your event by the following deadlines:
- Any combination of Gen X, Millennial, and/or Gen Z Mensans at any ONE gathering counts. (Note: the total is not cumulative throughout the summer, but you may submit tallies for more than one gathering if, for example, an event in August has more qualifying participants than a previous June entry)
- Make a list of your qualifying (that is, Gen X, Y, or Z) guests by name. Qualifying guest names can be submitted by email to Contest Coordinator Kelly Park (asstlocsec@sfmensa.org) at any point, but must be received no later than Friday, September 6, 2019.
- Submissions are based on the Honor System. We rely on the inherent honesty and integrity of our fellow Mensans to have a clean competition.
As 2019 sees Gen X become America’s largest population, let’s celebrate the younger generations of Mensa. Enjoy a super summer, great company, and maybe a little extra cash for an autumn get together – may the best host win!
Generation years defined:
- 2000 to present: New Silent Generation or Generation Z
- 1980 to 2000: Millennials or Generation Y
- 1965 to 1979: Thirteeners or Generation X (for contest purposes anyone turning 55 in the calendar year 2019 will be excluded)
