Maurice may only be six, but his long interest in art originated when his mom found out the extent to which he was creative when he was very young – which turned out to be as huge as an ocean. It is not only his creativity that stands out; it is his singular observation skills that are key to his success.

Maurice was inspired by other artists’ work and started trying to use their techniques. He observes and focuses in on each detail in a famous artist’s work. He observes that different brush stroke types have different meanings: a light stroke with low pressure highlights the same emotion that the artist feels–low pressure, in other words would signify calm. He says that if the artist applies a dark stroke into their painting, it means that they have a deeper meaning in their art–something more than calm and happiness (e.g., melancholy, stress, anxiety, or uncertainty). He finds that artists twist their brushes in precise artworks (e.g., the leaves of maple trees). Not only is his deep intellectual processing within a very short time a prominent capability of his, his analysis actually pays off in intricate and majestic abstract artworks. Maurice is only in 1st grade, but his knowledge and passion for so many interests is as wide as the seas. His interests include analyzing the workings of the solar system, narration, and art. He was driven with these deep rooted interests to publish a children’s book that educates children about the solar system with Mr. Snowman using adventurous storytelling. It started with his Kindergarten teacher showing him a digital art software. He soon got very interested in digital arts. He wanted an application for his newfound talent. To find this application, Maurice did an “introspection of his deep ended interests” and found that the solar system and narration to be topics that invoked his fervor. Due to his passion in these topics, life flowed in Maurice’s book. He earned 5-star ratings from readers around the world, stating that he had compiled such a good book that was also so entertaining for children.

Art aside, Maurice is the perfect example of an extremely creative genius as well. He loves building, doing science experiments, LEGO® Robotics, and twisting and turning his imagination as much as he can in wild ways. He provides insight on a new perspective of AI’s impact on artists with his critical thinking and wise circumspection. He says that AI will guide artists in creating realistic drawings and can even augment a drawing if given a photo of a hand drawn picture as an input. However, he also presents the negatives to create a well-balanced perspective that considers all possibilities. He mentions that despite these advantages, AI still might not provide enough time and space that artists would get otherwise. Being such an expert at so many different aspects, Maurice is not just a boy who is expert at drawing, he is multi-talented in the realm of visual and spatial thinking, art, robotics, and science.
