Anna Citrino
Writing Between Fact and Fiction
“How can narrative embody life in words and at the same time respect what we cannot know?” writes Saidiya Hartman. Anna’s presentation explores using imagination to build from facts to tell a story that blends genres of poetry and historical fiction. Anna will talk about her writing process and challenges, as well as offer suggestions for places to look for publishers and awards.
Anna Citrino grew up in San Diego and taught abroad in six different countries. Her work has appeared in over forty publications. Her most recent book, Stories We Didn’t Tell, has won four awards, including the Western Heritage Award. Currently, Anna lives in Sonoma County where you can typically find her walking, biking or tending her garden accompanied by her cat.
